POWER GRID FAILURE
PHOENIX, AZ - Federal officials said a power outage at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which delayed American Airlines and Southwest Airlines flights, has been repaired.

Airport spokesman Eric Everts said Sky Harbor experienced more than 200 flight delays, over 90 flight cancellations and more than 15 inbound flights diverted to other airports during the power outage, with American and Southwest airlines being the most severely affected.
The outage was caused by electrical equipment that failed during a scheduled maintenance performed by Arizona Public Service staff, one of whom was injured.
The employee was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.
"The power outage affected ticket counters and some of the jet bridges, where people board the aircraft and get off the planes. It affected our baggage handling systems. Just affected our restaurants and various operations around Terminal 4," said Sky Harbor Airport spokesperson Julie Rodriguez.
During the ensuing chaos, lines formed inside the airport and some travelers were frustrated by the delays.
