Fukushima: IAEA approves discharging radioactive water into the ocean

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) believes that discharging treated radioactive cooling water from the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the sea will have a negligible impact on people and the environment. In a report that IAEA Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi presented to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Tuesday, the regulator also confirmed that the Japanese plans meet IAEA safety standards.
