Explosions and Fire from Industrial Facility in Clinton Township

Updated: Jun 27

UPDATE AT 9:39PM

"We can not stress enough the danger that is happening right now. Please, please, please stay inside and out of the vicinity," police said in a social media post. "Debris is being projected into the air and coming down as far as a mile away from the explosion, so please stay out of the area and stay safe."

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office, which is assisting police, said evacuations are underway. It's unknown how many people are being evacuated.

UPDATE AT 9:15PM

Law enforcement and emergency responders are attending to continuous explosions in Clinton Township, Michigan. The source is potentially a fireworks facility, although this assertion is presently unverified. Firefighting teams have withdrawn to their vehicles as adjacent roads are shut down, with the property owner notifying authorities of a 10,000-gallon diesel fuel tank being on-property. Nearby residents are being evacuated, and individuals are strongly advised to steer clear of the area immediately due to the ongoing risk of further explosions. The situation remains dynamic.
